How is it that one particular statement rather than another appears in a field of discourse? How is it that within the Danish Muslim community human freedom is spoken of in certain terms? In this talk, I will outline my Foucauldian-ethnographic approach to human freedom, which strives for a "pure description of discursive events" while involving classical anthropological methods. Some of my preliminary fieldwork findings will help illustrate the advantages of working on the level of the Foucauldian statement.

The event, arranged by Centre for Contemporary Religion, takes place at AU Campus Nobel, Bldg. 1453, Room 415, Jens Chr. Skous Vej 3.
